Photographic art is a true passion for me, one that is
part of my psyche. The creative process allows me to grow spiritually
and takes me on personal journey of self discovery. There is also a
meditative aspect to the process, which enables me to connect with my
feminine spirit and identity.
This particular series of self portraits, nudes and semi nudes was a
time of self-discovery. The images reflect my passions, my culture, and
my femininity. I aimed to create evocative, sensuous, images that not
only reflected my character, but also allowed my subjects to shine from
behind the façade of the masks we all wear (not literally, but
psychologically).
Inspiration for my work comes from literature, painting, photography and
many other forms of art. For me they are all intrinsically interrelated.
Classical and Renaissance periods of art are particularly influential
for me because this art is allegorical, religious, symbolic and
mythological.
My vision is creating images that reflect my journey through life as a
woman and an evolving artist. I am constantly exploring my own identity
and I’m not afraid to wear my heart on my sleeve for others to see. I
want to continue challenging my beliefs because I believe this helps me
create evocative and enigmatic images. The end results hopefully
stimulate and stir emotions, as well as draw the viewer into a different
world, even if it’s just for a fleeting moment.
In future I wish to focus on commissions and create pieces that will
capture the individual spirit of my subject, but at the same time
reflect my distinctive photographic style and technique.
