Bio
Margaret’s gift of observation and the ability to draw gained her
recognition during her school years. She attended Saturday morning Art
classes and Secondary Schooling at the Girls Central Art School.
Employment followed as a Showcard Writer and Display Artist at a large
city store.
Margaret is a Fellow of the Royal South Australian Society of Arts,
President of the Ocean Art Gallery, Victor Harbor, a member of the
Southern Districts Art Society and the Pastel Artists South Australia.
She conducts demonstrations and workshops for painting groups in
Adelaide and country areas. Her paintings are in most Australian States
and seven overseas countries with special purchases made by Australia
Post and the AMP Society and commissions for the covers of two published
books.
From 1971 – 1980 Margaret gained many prizes at API Art Salons; also
Highly Commended Awards, City of Brighton Art Exhibition 1985 and
Mitcham Village Art Exhibition 1991. In 1995 Margaret took part in a
“Three Women Artists” exhibition and in 2003 held a successful solo
exhibition, both at Lombard Gallery. In 2008 she was one of the
exhibiting Pastel Artists of South Australia at Greenhill Galleries in
Adelaide. Her work is on sale at Art Vault Gallery in Mildura and
at the Ocean Art Gallery in Victor Harbor. She also regularly exhibits
in the annual SALA Festivals. Margaret has been a finalist in eight
consecutive “Heysen Prize for Australian Landscape” Exhibitions and
gained two awards.
