Born: c.1920/1926 - 1989 Born on Napperby Station, Kaapa worked on various cattle stations as a stockman. He moved to Haasts Bluff, then to Papunya where he was one of the first to paint, before Geoffrey Bardon supplied paints and materials to other Aboriginal men. Kaapa's dynamic personality gave momentum to the Papunya art movement and, as he was recognised for it by the other members of the painting group, he became the first chairman of the newly formed company, the Papunya Tula artists. In his paintings her depicted the Dreamings for the Mikuntji site, a rainmaking place near Mt. Denison. His other subjects were: Black Goanna, Snake, Shield, Witchetty Grub and Yam. 1999 1996 1993 1989
