Interests:
Family, people, language, art, travel, vegan cooking, yoga, meditation,
walking, gardening, reading. As an artist pursuing enlightenment, I'm still struggling to find my way and fit into society: so many interests, ideas, potential directions, mediums, so many choices, so much to learn, so many shattered beliefs, so little time. Formal academic art study has forced growth in previously unexplored areas. I believe it's a part of my spiritual development which accelerated exponentially during my stay in Italy and formed the central focus of my Honours exegesis 'Noetics'. This involved the intuitive exploration of consciousness from the matrix of philosophy, art, quantum physics and traditions. It informed my practice wherein fractal (crystal) and eye photographic images, imbued with a spectral wash, signify transcendence. My work varies from relatively realistic paintings in oils, acrylics, and silicone through gouache incorporating metals, to symbolically layered installations. I'm interested in freeing-up my style, working on more psi stories, in painting subject matter from my Italian experience, and in developing the spectral wash photographs. Ideally a light engineer would help with the latter as part of Masters' study. 2008 - Bachelor of Visual Arts, Honours, La Trobe University, Mildura 2003-2006 - Bachelor of Visual Arts, La Trobe University, Mildura 2005-2006 - Academic Drawing: Angel Academy of Art, Florence, Italy 2005 - Figure Painting Workshop: Martinho Corriera, Tenebrist Painting Workshop: Jered Wosneki, Portrait Painting Workshop: John Angel, Angel Academy of Art, Florence, Italy 2003-2005 - Graduate Certificate TESOL, Deakin University, Geelong 2004 - Certificate IV Workplace Training and Assessment, Sunraysia Institute of TAFE, Mildura 2000 - Certificate II in Arts (Interactive Multimedia), Sunraysia Institute of TAFE, Mildura 1998 - 1999 - Languages Other Than English (LOTE) Methodology, Royal Melbourne Institute of TAFE, Melbourne 1994 -1998 - Graduate Diploma Humanities and Social Sciences (Italian), La Trobe University, Melbourne 1978-1970 - Diploma of Teaching (Secondary Art and Crafts), Melbourne Teachers College, Melbourne 2009 2008 2007 2006 2004 2003 2008 - current - Art Vault Committee & volunteer 2006 - current - Organic Shop volunteer 1993 - 2003 - Host mother to 13 exchange students 1997- 2002 - Secretary for the Mildura District Dante Alighieri Society 2001 - Wrote a unit of work for the Department of Education 1980 - Foundation member of Red Cliffs Toy Library 1980's - Nursing Mothers' Association Counsellor and Group Leader 1965 - Designed Nat Barkley Memorial, Red Cliffs |
